Jimmy Breen is the Chief Data Scientist of the Indigenous Genomics research group “Black Ochre Data Labs”, which is co-funded by Telethon Kids Institute and Australian National University. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Indigenous Genomics at the National Centre for Indigenous Genomics (NCIG) at ANU and a key Investigator on the national Australian Alliance for Indigenous Genomics (ALIGN) program that aims to deliver equity and benefit to Indigenous Australians through genomics. He has had a varied career in high-throughput sequencing technology and development, working in fields such as agricultural genetics, ancient DNA, reproductive biology and cancer genomics. Jimmy is the current President of the Australian Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Society (ABACBS), the peak body for Computational Biologists in Australia, and though Black Ochre Data Labs, aims to develop the next generation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous computational researchers.
