Annabel is a bioinformatician at the Bragato Research Institute working on grapevine improvement and contributes to the High-Quality Genomes programme at Genomics Aotearoa. She is based in Auckland, New Zealand, where she also holds an honorary academic appointment at the University of Auckland. She has a strong interest in technical developments in sequencing technologies and data analysis, and uses this to generate genomic resources, gain biological insights and derive impact from these. Annabel worked in the UK and France before arriving in New Zealand in 2019 and has been fortunate to conduct research in a wide diversity of plant and animal systems, notably including colour pattern diversity in snapdragons and Heliconius butterflies, rare inherited diseases, and invasive and threatened birds in Aotearoa New Zealand.
